LOST Experience: Italy 05 Update
On July 10th, a new post is added to Rachel Blake’s blog.

Unfortunatly, after a four day absence, there are no images, video, or audio. Most of the post is just an explination of her absence, and the introduction of a possible new character. A hacker trying to gain access to Rachel’s files, and possibly subvert her attempts to topple the Hanso Foundation.
Dharmahawk from 4815162342.com had some very interesting thoughts on Rachel’s latest post.
Today’s blog actually stimulated this one little area of gray matter that wasn’t quite dead yet and got me thinking about this Widmore connection. I’m sure it will amount to as much as, if not less than, all of my other over-the-top theories, but here goes….
The Widmore Connection–Widmore, in the context of the ARG, is mainly from Bad Twin, though I’m sure there have been a few other minor references. This brings up the whole unresolved Gary Troup connection again, which we haven’t really heard anything about since the beginning of Act I. In Bad Twin (which I’m still kicking myself for buying and reading, but I’m determined to make something out of it!), we find out that the Widmore Corporation’s headquarters are in a big office building in NYC that they own. THF’s New York office is on, like, the 42nd floor of this building. THF isn’t mentioned much in the book, but Daddy Widmore and one of his twin sons (can’t remember his name…not Zander, who is the missing twin) were walking out of a board meeting with THF at one point and discussing this generally untrustworthy “Mittelwerk” fellow. At that point, I think one of them asks, “Who’s Alvar Hanso, anyway?” I’ll have to look it up when I get home to clarify this…it’s been too long since I read it…but I remember having the impression that the Widmore’s had never heard of Alvar before and had certainly never met him (and Daddy Widmore was definitely getting on in years). (EDIT: Someone over on Sissy’s blog comments said that Daddy Widmore and Alvar used to sell arms together…I’ll have to look at the book tonight.)
Hypothesis A–Sissy Frenchfry=Cindy Chandler. Okay, okay, there’s really no way this can be true without changing a bunch of supposed facts. Just for fun, though, here goes…notwithstanding that we know there was a Cindy (who may or not be Cindy Chandler) on the show who went missing during the Tailies’ trek to the main Losties’ camp, Cindy Chandler was Gary Troup’s “real life” love interest within ARGland. Cindy was supposed to be a flight attendant on Oceanic Airlines, and I seem to remember hearing that Cindy supposedly “died” in the plane crash along with Gary Troup. So, you may ask, how could she be a former Widmore employee? Therein lies the problem…however, if it turns out that the airline employee list was HACKED and Cindy was actually a Widmore employee, could Sissy Frenchfry be Cindy Chandler (assuming, obviously, that she was not on the plane)? If so, she’d be mighty pissed that the plane went down and killed her boyfriend, especially if she thought THF was behind it!
Hypothesis B–Sissy Frenchfry=Daddy Widmore’s daughter. Of course, in the show, Daddy Widmore appears to be alive, but the ARG isn’t necessarily playing by those rules. In Bad Twin, Daddy Widmore dies at the end and Zander Widmore, the “missing” twin, takes over the company. I’ll have to check my facts here, but I think Daddy Widmore’s wife in the book was not his first wife…she was fairly recent, was much younger, was having an affair, and was thoroughly gold digging and untrustworthy. If Sissy were the offspring of an earlier marriage, could she be a Widmore? If she were a late-in-life daughter of old Daddy Widmore, she could be pissed at THF for their perceived involvement in his death, which was, I believe, deemed accidental, but there was some doubt about it.
Hypothesis C–Sissy Frenchfry=Dead Twin Widmore’s son. Daddy Widmore isn’t the only one who dies in Bad Twin. One of his twin sons (can’t remember his name) has taken over the CEO-ship of the company from his aging father. He also dies at the end of the book, and Zander Widmore, the “bad” twin, who seems to turn out to be the “good” twin after all, takes over in the end and decides to use the company’s resources to do good things in the world. If Daddy Widmore was in his 70s or 80s, the “good” twin Widmore could have been in his 40s, 50s, or 60s and could easily have a daughter Sissy’s age.
Other possible relationships undoubtedly exist in the book as there are a few minor characters to which nasty things happen in the course of the book’s intrigue. Sissy’s vendetta could be explained in terms of her relationship to any of the several major and minor characters who die in Bad Twin.
These admittedly inane ideas are based on wild speculation, but I’m sensing that we are possibly being directed back to Bad Twin as a result of today’s Widmore update. I know Sissy is supposed to be looking for her long-lost father (based on the information in the casting call), but her story could have been changed since the casting call to more of a revenge story in which she is out to avenge her deceased father (or boyfriend)? If this is a basic revenge scenario for her, it might explain why she sometimes seems so clueless about THF’s more nefarious activities.
