Dharma Secret’s LOST-n-Found: A Blog Dedicated to the T.V. Show Lost

Theory: New Hope (Crash Theory 2.0 revisited)

WoHooo!!!! For a long time I had thought that I was way off on speculating that the crach was faked. Now, after the D.O.C. episode, I have new hope. I’m still not completely convinced that I was right. I’m leaning more towards Flight 815 crashing on the island, and the Others/Dharma Initiative/Whomever faked a second crash site to keep people from the outside world from stumbling onto the island while looking for 815.

You can read my original crash theory here.

Theory: Alex’s Father

After the “Not In Portland” Episode, everyone on the net has been debating if Alex is Rousseau’s Daughter, or if she is Ben’s Daughter. I have even seen arguments saying that Ben and Rousseau are (or were) married.

Assuming that Rousseau wasn’t lying (Which until proven otherwise, I don’t) there are three reasons to disprove the Danielle-Ben marriage.

1. Rousseau said that she was pregnant BEFORE she arrived on the island, and Ben said that he had lived on the island all his life (Although, it wouldn’t be the first time he lied if he did).

2. Rousseau said that her husband was dead, and alluded that she may have killed him.

3. Rousseau also said that the Other’s kidnapped her daughter. If she were Ben’s daughter, she would have been born with the others. Unless there is another girl named Alex running around the Other’s village, Alex is Rousseau’s daughter.

Taking all of the above information into consideration I believe that Alex is NOT Ben’s biological daughter, but was adopted by Ben AFTER she was kidnapped. I’m leaning towards this theory because it is the easiest explanation that would not involve completely uprooting Alex’s family tree. However, always being one who likes to theorize outside of the box, here is another option to consider.

No one in “Not In Portland” said that Ben was Alex’s father. It was hinted at, and the viewers assumed that Juliet was referring to Ben. It is my belief that Juliet was not referring to Ben, but to someone higher up the Other’s hierarchy. I think that Juliet may have been referring to the mysterious Jacob.

With the exception of his name, and the fact that he had a “list”, nothing has been revealed about him. It could be possible, that Jacob was Rousseau’s husband, and that she was either mistaken, or fooled into believing that he died.

Theory: Patchy = Razinsky?

The general consensus on the forum is that the man wearing the eye patch in the survalence video that the losties saw could be Radzinsky. Although Kelvin has stated that Radzinsky killed himself, it is not out of the realm of possibility that Kelvin either lied, or was somehow made to believe that Radzinsky was dead.

I believe that benschmidt put it best:

Kelvin could have easily lied. This has been discussed a bunch of times. He lied to Desmond about a million things, why not Radzinsky? It makes perfect sense to me. Glass eye/film strip. Radzinsky cut the film strip=Radzinsky need a glass eye. I mean, I couldnt just see him being some random dude. The writers have more to it than that.

Although there is a mountain of evidence that says that Radzinsky is dead, anything could be possible on Lostie Island.

Theory: Missing Scenes

Many people have been noticing that scenes which promo pics have been released for are being left out of the episodes that they were meant for (Jack saving the little girl in “Tale of Two Cities”, and several scenes from “Further Instructions”). It is not uncommon for scenes to be cut/rearranged/or re-shot, BUT… the Theory Monger in me came up with another reason.

After the LOST Experience game which was designed further allow viewers to interact with the lexicon of the show, I’m wondering if the producers are using the promos to release red herrings. With the popularity of the show among internet users, and the constant search of spoilers, perhaps they are deliberately releasing cut scenes to deflect internet based fans from attempting to find information that is relevant to the actual storyline.

Now, this is just a television show, so I am NOT suggesting that they would be deliberately producing these red herrings for release (similar to shooting alternate endings for high profile movies). My contention is that perhaps, they are using “throw away” scenes that they shot but have decided not to use to throw spoiler seekers off the trail of relevant information.

Theory: Desmond’s Time Warp

Well, A lot of Questions arose from the latest episode “Further Instructions” in particular, how did Desmond know about Locke’s speech before he gave it. Many people, including myself, believe that Desmond could have some sort of psychic abilities, but that is not what I am thinking happened.

Now, I have long been in opposition to time warp and wormhole theories for the sole reason, that they would completely thrust the show into the realm of scifi. However, after watching “Further Instructions”, I cannot deny that episode could have been our first glimps of a time warp.

When Desmond activated the fail safe, he was right on ground zero. If the hatch imploded, then how did he get out? I think that perhaps, the failsafe triggered a time warp, that sent Desmond, Locke, and Eko into the future. Because Desmond was at the fail safe, he was sent a few hours further into the future than Locke and Eko. This could be how Desmond knew about Locke’s speech.

Desmond, could still have been tethered to the current time line, so like a stretched rubberband, at a certain point, Desmond was pulled back into the current timeline.
