Dharma Secret’s LOST-n-Found: A Blog Dedicated to the T.V. Show Lost

LOST Sites: S.H.A.D.E. vs. S.H.I.N.E.

Well those cooky nuts over at 4815162342.com have started a grassroots group called S.H.A.D.E. (Stop Hanso’s Arrogant and Dangerous Experimentation). Although, I admit that I was a bit peeved that their discussion threads on 4815162342.com’s Lost Experience forum almost completely overran the board, I have to admire their tenacity and organization. Basically, S.H.A.D.E. is a group of ARG gamers tired of waiting for clues, so as a means of alleviate boredom, they started their own anti-Hanso organization complete with logos and merchandise all done with-in the span of a few days.

S.H.A.D.E. Official Mission Statement:

S.H.A.D.E. (Stop Hanso’s Arrogant and Dangerous Experimentation) is an organized group of concerned citizens that is demanding answers from the self proclaimed “Future” of The Hanso Foundation

We are here to ask questions and DEMAND answers from The Hanso Foundation and its corrupt Board of Directors.

While we can not condone the actions of others (i.e.: Persephone, Rachel Blake, GidgetGirl, Mel0drama etc.), we cannot ignore the information that they have provided in their efforts to hold The Hanso Foundation responsible for their actions.

We will seek all LEGAL means to involve multiple governing bodies as well as the global media to seek answers from The Hanso Foundation as well as protest in all forms available (internet, e-mail, letters and protests)

We invite you to join with us as we move toward a better understanding of The Hanso Foundation’s activities and experiments. Together our voices can not be ignored, and accountability for the actions of this foundation will not fly “under the radar” any longer!

S.H.A.D.E. - “So Hanso’s Tomorrow Never Sees the Light of Day”

Interestingly enough, a counter-group has also started calling themselves S.H.I.N.E (Save Hanso’s Innocent and Nice Experiments)

S.H.I.N.E. Official Mission Statement:

The Hanso Foundation was created by Alvar Hanso and his crew. They did great experiments and made the world a better place. Then all of a sudden Alvar Hanso went missing. His crew didn’t know what to do. The Board of Directors quickly took over. They completly destroyed all the things Alvar worked hard for. The Hanso Foundation….was sabotaged.

The Board of Directors conducted evil plots and experiments. These experiments contained abuse againest a 105-year-old orangatang, experiments harmful to the Earth, and much much more. They even hired the goverment to hide what they were doing. Some people think that Alvar Hanso is the cause of the problem. This people are from a group called SHADE.

Who’s side are you on?

UPDATE:
It appears that the members of the SHADE movement have become infamous during their short existance. Aside from a discussion about them on the Fuselage, it appears that they have come to the attention of the Speaker. The following is an e-mail that SHADE members recieved this morning.

Attention SHADE Members
The following is an email sent to you by an administrator of “SHADE”. If this
message is spam, contains abusive or other comments you find offensive please
contact the webmaster of the board at the following address:

Include this full email (particularly the headers).

Below is a comment from Speaker on his blog. This is a sign that our press has
not only gotten out… It’s gotten a little annoying to some.

From here forward please do not “Advertise” SHADE on public forums or Sites. It
is clear everyone knows where we are… Keep the SIGS and Avitars and let them
speak for themselves.

If someone asks you directly about SHADE, direct them here and be done with it
(In PM form if available).

Thank you all for your help with this. I trust you all know how important our
reputation is to our credability.

Just a heads-up (though most of us are aware of this anyway):

As you may have know, SHADE, shadeoftruth.com is an out-of-game site that has
been advertised here and at other sties.

You may or may not know that this fansite has an organized plan to gain
attention, which includes spamming every Lost and Hanso-related site.

To blog posters:
They have an interesting site, so go take a look, if you’re curious. If not,
just remember to ignore the boars.

I’m not trying to be authoritarian in the slightest (and I’m sorry if it comes
off as even slightly that way). I’m just spreading the word to prevent any
future agitation caused by this spam campaign.

To the members of SHADE: You have posted your link more than enough and are all
aware of your site. In fact, I have even plugged your site by making this post.
So there you go, you’re done.

Posting anymore spam is not going to accomplish anything at all and is extremely
unwelcome, so please stop.

I myself have had a run in with these self proclaimed “Shaders”. Yesterday, I came home from work to find my mailbox inundated with hate mail from members of SHADE. Apparently, what happened was someone went onto their site, and spammed their forum in retaliation for spamming 4815162342.com a few days earlier.

I am a member and frequently visit the numbers forum, so when SHADE hijacked the Lost Experience forum, I was very vocal about it. Because of this, many of their members assumed that I was the one spamming their site. Needless to say, I was irate over this, but after a strongly worded post by me on their forum, and most likely some moderator intervention, the hate mail has, thankfully, ceased. Although I was completely pissed off over this, I realize that this was just a missunderstanding. However, I most likely won’t be making any plans to be attending any SHADE get-togethers any time soon.

LOST-n-Found Frapper Map

I have had a frapper account for a long time, but I have never really bothered to spend any time on it. Well, since I have an account, I decided to make up a frapper map for LOST-n-Found. When I started the map, I didn’t want to have map with nothing on it, so I decided to stick pins in places where I had either lived or visited during my many travels. I started on the east coast, and worked my way east, and by the time I was done, I had over 40 pins in the map. I didn’t think that I had really traveled all that much. Anyway, here is the map.

Feel free to not only enter your location, but places that you have been as well. It might be a fun little twist that other frappers don’t usually do.

Cheers Everybody. To Good Times and Noodle Salad!

LOST Experience: Sissy Frenchfry

Major props to Zach who posted this in the comments section of Rachel Blake’s blog. I don’t know how he came accross this, but he found out that the name of the actress who plays Rachel Blake is named Jamie Silberhartz. IMDb lists her previous credits as playing a cheerleader in a comedy titled “Sissy Frenchfry”.

After finding this out, I realized that I totally forgot that Rachel Blake is a character. I thought about it for a second, and further realized that this actress is getting a fare amount of publicity from this. I mean, her face is plastered all over the internet in the form of Rachel Blake videos on You Tube, and screen caps on forums. I’ll BET that Jimmy Kimmel, the LOST freak that he is, already has her booked to appear on his show once the ARG finishes in September.

LOST: Portugese Transcript from “Live Together, Die Alone”

Big thanks goes out to my Brazillian connection TheBRod for providing the transcript from the final scene of “Live Together, Die Alone”.

Portugese:
- Tá quebrado!
- Eu destruí a sua defesa. Esta será a última vez que você verá “o” torre.
- É parte do plano, meu amigo. É tudo parte do plano.
- Ah, então, o seu plano deve ser perder… Agora, por favor!
(screen)
- O quê?
- Há quanto tempo está fazendo isto?
- É isso, não é? A gente não percebeu de novo, eles vão a matar a gente!
- Fica quieto!
- Nós perdemos!
(noise)
- Bate que é um alarme falso… Fala… Bate (?) e houve que é uma mensagem…
- Cala a boca e chama ajuda!!
(phone)

English:
- It’s broken!
- I’ve crushed your defense. This is the last time you’ll see your rook. (*)
- It’s part of the plan, my friend. It’s all part of the plan.
- Ah, so your plan must be to lose… Now, will you please…?
(screen)
- What?
- How long since it’s been doing this?
- This is it, isn’t it? We didn’t see again, they’re gonna kill us! (**)
- Be quiet!
- We lost it!
(noise)
- Tell them (***) that it’s a false alarm… Tell… Tell them there was a message… (****)
- Shut up and call for help!!
(phone)

(*) Weird use of the pronoun here, since ‘torre’ is a feminine, and ‘o’ is masculine. This may be indicative of a non-Brazilian, non-Portuguese reference, if they refer to the rook as “the pawn named rook”, when a pawn would be a masculine, in Portuguese.
(**) This is probably figurative. “She’ll kill me if I get late”.
(***) “Tell”, in this case, is typing. He uses a specific verb for “say something with your typing”.
(****) I actually couldn’t understand well what’s being said here, so the translation is *a little* free. But the guy is only panicking and babbling.

The subtitles are kinda faulty, as you can see.

The REALLY weird thing is that all this could be considered a mix of Brazilian and European Portuguese. The wording is mostly Brazilian, and also the “calm” way of saying them, but that accent I’ve never heard before, and it’s definitely not Brazilian (from any region) and don’t quite fit European Portuguese too, which bear an even stronger accent.

I’ve read some time ago that African variations of Portuguese kinda sound like Brazil (in Angola, Mozambique or other places there). Those guys being African would make some sense, given the previous Africa references (Nigeria and Zambia, at least).

And there are discrepancies in the speech itself, which could (a) tell more about those people or (b) be a production flaw more than a clue or anything plot-related. It sounds like some sentences were directly translated from English and wouldn’t make sense in Portuguese (ours here, at least). That “nós perdemos!” part simply doesn’t sound like Portuguese in its context.

So far, that’s it. If the African thing is right, maybe we’ll see some stuff in Portuguese in the ARG soon, who knows.

Thanks again TheBRod!
