Dharma Secret’s LOST-n-Found: A Blog Dedicated to the T.V. Show Lost

LOST Experience: Retrievers of Truth

On June 6th, during an episode of “Boston Legal” a thf.org commercial aired directing viewers to http://retrieversoftruth.com/. When you visit the site, you will find a rather kooky looking site about the psychic abilities of golden retrievers.

When you go to the bio of Dr. Vincent “Wally” Bole (Wally Bole which is an anagram for “Yellow Lab”), you will find several allusions to character in the show, and a reference to a incident where Wally met Alvar Hanso.

The clue to cracking this site comes from an e-mail that is sent to you after submitting you e-mail address into the box provided. Shortly after submitting your e-mail, you get the following message sent to you:

You’re about to enter…

First let’s start this by saying, “thank you.”

There’s a word into which dreams can come true. This email is your
gateway to that word and more that will open your mind and your
consciousness.

Imagine a field - a field of yellow… yellow labs running free,
playful, and enjoying each other’s company. But in their hearts they
are not complete. They miss an integral part of their being and the
thing that makes their existence complete. That one thing is the “word”
for which we all search - mankind and labkind.

But first a story.

I was checking into a hotel and a dapper porter escorts me to my room.
As we’re going up the elevator in total silence I decide to ask him
his name. He replies, “Mandrake Wig” and immediately starts to explain
the odd name, his German ancestry, and his mother’s preoccupation with
botany. He ends the story by saying, “my friends just call me Manny.”

We continue talking about our lives, hopes, and dreams as I’m getting
settled in my room. When he’s done I offer a generous tip but he
refuses saying, “Let me give you a tip, a single word that will enrich
your life, as it has mine.” I accept.

The next day I go to the front desk to leave a tip for Manny. They tell
me no such person works there. I question everyone with no luck. I
think about what he told me and write down his name so I don’t forget
it. As I write I see something in the letters. I rearrange a few and
create the words, “waking dream.”

The word he gave me that day was - YOU.
Yours truly, Dr. Vincent “Wally” Bole

We later find that this site is actually a cover for another site. By entering the password “Porter” into the newsletter regristration box, you will find the real Retrievers of Truth site.

Jeesustikku from lostpodcast.proboards2.com, noted that Walt’s step father, and Vincent’s original owner, was named “Brian Porter“.

Notice that on the first page, it says “Supported by the Hanso Foundation”, and then on the hidden page, it says “Subjugated by the Hanso Foundation”.

The hidden ROT site is a forum which is populated by emplyees of Verizon.

From what I have been able to asertain from reading the forum posts, a group of Verizon employees use the forum to keep in contact about the Hanso Foundation and the business they are conducting with Verizon. It appears that these employess found out about Hanso’s dirty deals, either from Persephone’s hacks, Gary Troup’s attempts to subvert the organization through his Bad Twin Novel, and have developed the forum to spread the word.

They are very cautious about getting caught, and created the golden retriever site to hide the forum. Behind it, the message board becomes public to us, the webmazers in their world, possibly in an attempt to share the knowledge that they acquire.

UPDATE:
Like all connected websites in the ARG, “Retrievers of Truth” can be found on the IGA page by moving your mouse over the “Cells” picture in the upper right.

By following a link found in the “Gospel according to DSL” thread, you will find a Verizon web site

If you look at the source code, you will find the embeded password, “parthenogenesis”. (Thanks Adam Mackenzie for sending this in this screen cap.)
